EVisaPreparation Transit Visa Checker

Do you need a transit visa for your layover?

Pick your passport and your layover country, answer two short questions, and get the rule that applies, with the official source. It covers 16 major hub countries, from London and Frankfurt to Dubai, Doha, Singapore and Sydney.

Worked example

Indian passport, layover in the United Kingdom (London Heathrow), no US, UK, Canadian or Schengen visa, staying airside.

Worked examples are free and do not use one of your checks.

How it works

  1. Pick the passport you will travel on. Airlines apply the rules of that passport, not of your country of residence.
  2. Pick the country where you change planes. The checker covers 16 major hub countries.
  3. Say whether you hold a visa or residence permit for a major country, since those documents exempt you at several hubs, and whether you will cross the border during the layover.
  4. Get one of four answers: transit visa required, no transit visa needed, depends on conditions (with the deciding conditions listed), or not covered yet.

Rules are encoded from official government and EU sources only, and every answer links to its source. If a passport and hub pair is not covered by a sourced rule, the checker says so instead of guessing. Only ordinary passports are covered; diplomatic, official and refugee travel documents follow different rules.
